Dong Yeom is Thunderbird’s Corporate Controller, responsible for managing the organization’s accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receiving, cost accounting, inventory management, and the general ledger.
Dong’s duties include, among others, preparing annual budgets, providing financial analysis essential to leadership’s decision-making processes, creating and publishing monthly and yearly financial statements, reviewing sales margins and estimated product costs to support pricing decisions and contract negotiations, coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit, and more.
A certified public accountant, Dong joins Thunderbird with more than 20 years of accounting experience under his belt—10 of those years in the manufacturing industry. His most recent experience is as a financial analyst at Walgreens Co. During his time there, Dong was integral to a companywide effort to streamline processes. As part of that initiative, he created a simplified template to decide on a lease or purchase option for new or modified leases; modified an in-house rent calculation program for several thousand stores and buildings that increased accuracy; and completed intercompany reconciliation related to fixed assets and supplies that remained unsolved for years.
Dong earned his master’s in accountancy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also has a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
